Does your calendar look like a game of Tetris? Every space filled to the brim. No room to breathe.
I get it. You think a packed schedule equals productivity. After all, it’s what society awards. Busy… Busy… Busy!
But here’s what I discovered after collapsing from exhaustion and ending up in an ambulance:
White space on your calendar leads to more success than cramming every minute.
The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything
Leave some breathing room in your schedule. It allows life to unfold in its own way. Your daughter’s school calls with a fever. A 5-star client wants to meet this week. An inspired idea strikes that could transform your business.
Or, like me this week, I got the flu. Talk about something that throws you off schedule. Yep… completely forgot to put the flu on my calendar. 🙂
Without white space, these moments become emergencies. With it, they become opportunities.
Start with a 25% buffer zone. If you think a project task will take one hour, block 75 minutes.
Schedule “Nothing” blocks. Write “Open Time” on your calendar. Guard this area as you would an important meeting. I like to keep Thursdays more open. Kind of my catch-up day.
Use the 4-Zone Framework.
Set aside time for:
Rest & Relaxation
Revenue Generation
Smooth Sailing prep
Handling Stuff
This prevents tasks from taking up all your time. I share more about this framework in the free The Art of Working Less Masterclass
Let go of saying yes to same-day requests. Your schedule doesn’t need to align with everyone else’s urgency.
The magic happens in the margins. Those “empty” spaces turn into a place for your business to grow. They help deepen relationships and remind you why you began this journey.
