The Simple 15-Minute Rule That Changes Everything

The Simple 15-Minute Rule That Changes Everything

Most entrepreneurs think they need 2-3 hour blocks to get anything meaningful done. I used to believe this myth, too.

Until I then collapsed from exhaustion and ended up in an ambulance. I spent three months recovering in bed. During that recovery, I only had 15 minutes of energy at a time.

Those tiny windows led me to a big discovery: small blocks can lead to bigger results than long marathon sessions. Long work sessions can lead to burnout and make you feel mentally drained.

Why Your Brain Loves 15-Minute Blocks

Your brain craves completion, not duration. When you work on a task quickly, you activate what’s known as “completion bias.” You feel accomplished. That feeling fuels momentum for the next task.

Long blocks? They overwhelm your brain before you even start. You put things off, get sidetracked, and scroll through social media instead of working.

The Real Magic: Momentum Over Perfection

Last month, a client said she felt guilty about her 15-minute work sessions. She believed “real productivity” needed longer periods. She took a 6-month-old project from stuck mode to completion in 3 weeks. Using my 15-minute method.

She decided not to wait for the perfect two-hour block. Instead, she began working with her real schedule.

  • Small wins created momentum.
  • Momentum built confidence.
  • Confidence fueled bigger actions.

Your 15-Minute Action Plan

  1. Pick one thing you want to complete but keep putting it off.
  2. Set a timer for 15 minutes (I love this timer).
  3. Work without distractions (phone away, email closed)
  4. Celebrate the completion (even if the task needs more work).
  5. Schedule the next 15-minute block.

Let go of waiting for the “perfect” time block. Start working with your real schedule.

What will you tackle in your first 15-minute block this week? Reply and let me know, or continue the conversation over on LinkedIn.
